Westy Rambles West
We’re in the thick of our third road trip with Primrose, our '82 Westy, this time hiking the trails of the Florida Panhandle. It’s a good bit different than home. Both hilly, which both the van and our legs notice after six days, and rural!
Neither of us had explored the new Altha section of the Florida Trail so we aimed for Blountstown to pick up fixings for dinner and headed there to camp out near the trailhead.

The next morning, we tackled a round-trip on this short but scenic segment of the trail along the Chipola River floodplain. Lots of spring wildflowers in bloom.

From there it was a ramble up to Marianna for a hearty lunch before taking to US 90 to follow it west. Our goal was to meet up with the group camped out at Blackwater River State Park for the annual Panhandle Trace Hike.

Of course, we can't just do ONE thing. After today's hike, we're headed south to search for pitcher plant bogs. Those beauties are in bloom right now.
