Bye Bye Balds

After a gorgeous night at the iconic Overmountain Shelter, a historic barn with one heck of a view, we climb the last of the balds.

Each of the peaks since Roan Mountain offered excellent panoramas, but the back-to-back pair of Little Hump and Big Hump are simply amazing.

They defy your sense of perspective. Strong winds rake the meadows, and mountains circle below in every direction.

It's tough to say goodbye to the balds, but the views here let us move on with a bang.
