The Meadow
An inviting entrance to a hike across distant balds
We didn't make it to the meadow to camp as we'd planned, since we stopped at Sam's Gap to take care of John's aching feet.
But this meadow beyond the gap is certainly one of the beauty spots of the southern AT, with the mile-high summit of Big Bald looming on the horizon.
We crossed it under welcoming skies, eager for the challenges ahead.
